shima-cho stripe

good morning sunshine.

how was your weekend?

i ate savoury chaat at rangoli, vacherin mont d'or at au petit chavignol, and a fine coffee from little nest. (it is feeling oddly like my return to society.)

also pouring over this japanese antique textile shima-cho stripe sample book. (it's true, i love sample books.) from gallery tsumugi.

hope there is some magic coming your way,

nanook of the north.

string gardens

dj

so glad you haven't been washed away.

love le corbusier. i have been coveting this fine book, and somewhere i have pictures of a small retreat he designed and painted for himself and his wife, in the south of france. will try and find for you.

off to dinner (headed out with a few ladies), and hopefully magic and adventure.

I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies

sahara,

right now i couldn't agree more with Monsieur Jeanneret-Gris.

i would like to be spending this weekend in the lovely new home you found us.
wouldn't that be grand to place it somewhere sunny near the water.
fruit trees in the back yard + and a large studio for us to draw in.
(we could talk too)
yes. that would be dreamy.

instead it rains and i surf.
happy weekend love.

get thee some land

dear beach bum

if you can find us some land down there on the seashore, l found us a house.
we just need to move it:

This true Mid-Century Modern home is a collector's piece by any standard. Designed and built by Paul Thiry in 1962, it represents the height of Seattle's introduction to a new style of world architecture: "Principal architect of the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, Paul Thiry introduced European modernism to the Pacific Northwest."
available here.
(please find us a sunny plot. i am tired of the grey and rain.)

all washed up.

a moment of zen

s.

not sure who was in such a hurry for lemongrass that they drove right into the store...
hopefully not you.

i managed to check out for the weekend and go stare at the sea which was pretty nice after all this moving and emotional craziness.

sent you lovely thoughts across the waves.
hopefully they will wash up on your shore sometime soon.

south china seas

ms j

while the drive has countless excellent options for my groceries, there is only one place where i know i can find wild limes, or fresh galangal, curry leaves, or real tortillas, and now it has been decimated, closed indefinately.
and sadly, we certainly won't be driving to the granville island location in the next few weeks -
the city is on lockdown for the upcoming olympics (more on that soon).
(which also means no oyama goodies...)

i'm hungry just thinking about it.
must go eat something.

ps some great interiors on this blog.

salinger

sahara,

one of my favourite authors passed away this week so i will be trying to curl up sometime over the weekend with this book in honor of him.
and strangely enough, i will be showing a braille piece based on a piece of text from this same book for the first time at a gallery in venice this month.

great chopsticks
