garden of earthly delights

I love love love Calder, and have seen that youtube bit before -
maybe at Capilano?

And since you are back in NY, what about this?
Martha Clarke's "Garden of Earthly Delights"?
I'm intrigued...

PS I was also just looking at this book, Madeline and the Cats of Rome, by Ludwig's grandson.

alexander calder

my apologies baronessa for being awol.
have been busy with Belle Heir and had the lovely AV visiting here.
we did make it to the Whitney where there is an
Alexander Calder show on including these whimsical wire portraits

and a great little film
of him performing his circus.
there is a clip here for you and cy to enjoy.

the circus pieces all so beautifully handcrafted by him and also on display. really fantastic!

we then headed over to the Carlyle hotel for a martini at Bemelman's Bar where the Madeline creator was commissioned to decorate and has created some magical murals in the space.
we commented on how much you would like it and toasted you.
sending an olive your way from sunny but chilly brooklyn

the calm of an alphabet

my darling baronessa,
wish i could say i was awol at dragon rock relaxing reading a book and enjoying a nice glass of something but alas, craziness it has been...
though there is nothing that calms my graphic lovin' brain like a creative alphabet.

more dragon rock

trying to slowly find my way back to the world of blogging.
starting with some more pictures of dragon rock
happened upon in an old copy of nest magazine.
i do miss that one,
and within my well worn copies
found many ideas and interiors to post to you in the next few months.

as for dragon rock,
it's not so much the house as the landscape
to look out the window and see tress instead of concrete

and PRETEND you are voting for obama.

gold nuggets

i had wanted to post images of the tennis courts at mcspadden park,
completely overhauled, shiny and new, the perfect east van spot to show off your chanel racket
(because i know you are a tennis girl all the way)
but i just haven't made it up there
(five whole blocks...)
instead here's a handful of almost the last of the tomatoes from the garden
red currant
and stellar gold nuggets, the flavour queens

fun with barbie

i know... you keep giving me glamour and i keep giving you barbie. don't ask, just happened upon this one and of all things, the redesigner lives in vancouver so i thought it was meant to be...and might bring a smile to your face.
this is my reality in america...a gun toting, narrow minded soccer mom with a pregnant teenage daughter that potentially could end up as president of the united states of insane is that?!!!
can't wait to be back on canadian soil next week.

another fine thing about seattle

i know, i give me millicent and i hit you back with barbie...not quite up to snuff but her quote had me thinking as my mantra as of late has been 'avoid unecessary chatter' of which there is so bloody much of. she's quite fine your milli [wish someone would bring back this name] and i've never heard of her.
and why barbies you ask? well, i woke up this morning thinking about chris jordan's work and thought in the off chance you have never heard of him, you should.

TGIF dollface...this time next week we shall be in the same city.

millicent rogers

dear art star
sounds good to me.
feeling a bit millicent rogers today.
like i need to load on the jewels, a smattering of couture, and a layered skirt i dyed in a pot on the kitchen stove.
oh to be an eccentric heiress!
She said:

Life is absolutely beautiful if one will disassociate oneself from noise and talk and live it according to one's inner light.

I couldn't agree more...
love to you
