j.
so hard to capture the sky from our east van aerie!
and in answer to your question, now multiple days of clear and cold.
and perhaps a snow storm this weekend, which would be just grand!
off to chinatown when the boy is up from his nap, for bbq duck to make our own bowl of dumplings -
you've inspired me!

more cures for the winter blahs...
i made another batch of dumplings on saturday
and enjoying them in a light chicken + shitake broth.
love the recycled necklace...will look good with your fendi belt.
pink sky? is it sunny there?
another grey one here which is perfect for going to the movies.
went to see 'there will be blood' last night,
daniel day lewis is brilliant in it.
maybe 'persepolis' later but first some soup.

hello lovely -
what I wouldn't do to be there!
until then, think of cy and i wearing our new matching necklaces - very glamourous, very green (as in recycle-chic).

baroness,
what a gorgeous post and such delicious looking belts. i hope you find one in your travels to accessorize with this spring.
i went to bed in a jack in the beanstalk kind o mood, thinking belts...then bags.
planted some gucci seeds and lo and behold, there it was on the tree this morning.
seriously, found this little vintage number recently and will don it whenever i can before the kid gets her designer fingers on it.
is it almost a full moon?
feeling a little crazy these days.
miss you.

ha!
i myself would be hard pressed to lose my "eh"s.
can't think of a funny segue from accents into crayola-bright semi-precious belt buckles,
but i'm thinking about a new one.
perhaps either of these lovelies?

since spending time down here in LA, i have thought about having my lips plumped, boobs blown up and it even crossed my mind to have my nether regions rejuvenated.
but seeing this sign today made me realize that getting rid of this canadian accent is truly what needs to be done if i am ever going to fit in amongst the american populace.
maybe in time they'll even let me vote.

a brilliant book cover..so simple. it immediately
brought one of my favourite songs to mind, white rabbit
by jefferson airplane.

i just received mail from brooklyn and your most lovely postcard.
yes... i too, thank you, for you
and would love to take you for a bowl of legendary noodles or some
congee today.

sahara dessert,
detail from one of my letterhead drawings
as homage to my new drug
that i can hardly wait to get my hands on.
in the meantime, it's the lab mice that will remain
eternally youthful
sending sunshine and some california red your way.

Maybe not the most practical look for the current sleet and slush here in the Canadian north, but perfect for running to the market for milk and ho hos on a grey january in California. From the December French Vogue.

darling baroness,
i suppose this wouldn't be our blog unless it had some shoes on it.
these are a fabulous pair i found at a vintage store in ketchum, idaho
during my sun valley christmas.
kind of sexy in a WWII nurse way
plus they are dead comfortable.
in case you are ever in the area
you would love this place run by a nice
woman named suzie.

made braided cardamom-scented sweet bread last weekend - ate it for breakfast, with strong coffee.
and dumplings for you today at lunch. from the Legendary Noodle, pan fried pork and chive, with a slippery bowl of noodle soup.
new years resolution: to eat more instead of less.
eternally yours,
baroness.

wild chicken, shitake, leek, cabbage + carrot dumplings made with
you in mind...
i wish we could enjoy these together + then go hit some thrift stores.

[these are resting on my bathroom cabinet.
seriously, i did not place the red one in there...
it's a sign...]

darling baroness,
any resolutions you care to share?
my first resolution of the new year is to 'wear myself out',
as in, be more adventurous on the fashion frontier.
there is some good stuff here.
