for the love of paper

love love love all the proenza!
and i can't wait to see your new jeans
maybe this weekend?

jb sent me this link the other day to some amazing paper work
where the mask and wig above are from
which then had me thinking about the gorgeous paper dresses
the lovely ladies at the front had in their window one year.
i couldn't locate a picture of dresses but did manage to find this one of their
beautiful paper cakes.

would like to have a craft weekend with you and some paper
maybe you could make some more of your amazing paper ships?
get the scissors ready,
we are going to have some craft time soon....

proenza schouler

i am loving the mix of prints in the pre-fall collection for proenza schouler. the colours, the ikat, the longer dresses. maybe not all of it, but to pick and choose, right?
and that rust colour too -
i had a very successful vv trip the other day, which besides the fendi high-waisted rose-printed 80s denim, consisted nearly entirely of that very particular rust colour.

and i love that leanne shapton book. my sister got a copy for christmas, and i know if i borrow it she wont get it back.

ps and since we are talking prints and pre-fall, i like all of erdem's collection.

pss maybe i need to take those fendi jeans back and start saving my money for a bigger wardrobe hit?

native trees of canada

j'adore your silk habotai!
can't wait to see it up close and in it's new life as a scarf or pillows?
has ps seen it? he is going to want it as a bed spread.

as for the group portrait, the smile creeps across my face remembering our fine day in the woods which shall never be repeated but may have to be performed once more.

as for canadian wood, i spotted these here via this great blog and of course, thought of you and all things canadian...maybe a poster in the making? or maybe you should do a book?

btw i am just crazy about your new cards.

love them
love you

that's some heavy shit

yes, here it is.
i obviously can't dangle the carrot of "art photography" in front of everyone without expounding.
i know, especially considering your state at the time, you were referencing this Important work, by this Vancouver artist. Read all about it here (scroll down).
i have to say, rather than highlighting the solitary figure, you seem to have captured more of a crowd.
in considering the setting, it is the perfect group portrait.
i love it.

sally ann.

happy belated birthday ps

so glad you got your meat.

i am hoping there is a bowl full in my future -
maybe this will help?
it's taken a long time, but i finally got the silk habotai i had printed for the double birthdays we celebrated in the fall. recognized that beautiful mug? are you reading this ps? should i hem this as a giant scarf or chop it up for throw pillows?

oink oink

ps do you recognize the log ends? they were from the "art" photography you had me take at gambier...

a bustle and a birkin

that is a great tom clip.
gorgeous pieces on a great assortment of lovely ladies presented in an intimate surrounding...
that man is the style king!

and yes please to the new culinary delights of the san juan's.

today is 1/11/11 and i am in full swing with a few new year's resolutions.
one being getting my booty into shape and having gone to the most torturous workout class yesterday i may just start to fashion a bustle like the ones i saw at the lacma on sunday.
the other 2011 promise to myself was a birkin bag and i have finally found one that fits my budget.

so 11 days in i've managed to cross 2 of the list.
i think this may be a good year after all and a smiling crescent moon as i drove home the other night seem to confirm it.

hope you are feeling better soon.
last week was homemade chicken noodle soup everyday which sounds like it just might be the thing for you.
will let you know when the meat arrives.

big hug,

black swan

having seen most of the oscar contenders, i still have yet to see black swan...maybe tonight?
looking forward to seeing natalie's costumes designed by rodarte and i just saw they are having a show here at the moca this spring as listed in the top 10 to see in 2011.
i have my fingers crossed you can come down and we can then go then hit my favourite parking lot taco boys for some fine 'vampiros' afterwards.
on another natalie note, i stumbled upon this the other day...pretty funny.

off to the neon makers for new works for a show in february.
stay tuned.

p.s. oh i just saw this too...we must!

mapmaker mapmaker make me a map...

the top one from maira kalman's mom from her show here.
the next one from a cute couple in ohio making maps and other things that i thought you would like.

i wish i could have been at your dim sum round table on sunday...
not sure where you got those dumplings but some pretty crazy cooking instructions on that packet...
and i love the poem from tanya davis.

how's 2011 so far?
i just went on the nicest hike with beautiful post rain fresh air.
+ now craving dumplings.

miss you ( as usual )
